A grade II listed barn conversion; coach house resides in the grounds of Barton Grange Estate, a 16th/17th Century Country House. The kitchen was situated quite some way from the living/dining area and our clients wanted to create a small extension to open the kitchen up to make space for a dining area for entertaining. The existing roof design of the barn constricted the design to a flat roof and so this was incorporated into a contemporary extension to stand out from the existing structure but using matching natural stonework and a cedar cladding finish to the roof structure/parapet detail hiding the EPDM rubber roof from view. A timber glazed corner provides views out onto the 2.4 acres of garden and natural light back into the space.
