Mulberry House

Pibsbury, Somerset

We worked with the previous owner of this plot and planning consultants Clive Miller Planning to gain permission for a single dwelling. The site was part of an old fuel station, now removed and having already received permission for other houses adjacent. After a challenging application process with the local council permission was granted for a modest four bedroom property via the planning committee.

The site was then marketed and purchased by Kalbrook Homes Ltd where re:DSGN Ltd were subsequently instructed to alter some design details of the existing proposal and produce a full Building Regulation & Working Drawing Package. We linked the detached garage to the house providing a utility room and small study and added a forward projection with a porch detail and glazed landing area. To offset the additional costs of these changes to the build we reduced the amount of natural stone to be used on the external walls.

The dwelling is to be a 140mm structural timber frame utilising the latest insulation technology from Actis Insulation, a three insulation product solution giving unrivalled insulation levels and air tightness along with good sound insulation all at a reduced cost over the equivalent PIR solution.

A mains gas system boiler will be supplemented by over two square meters of solar hot water and the timber traditional flush casement windows will feature triple glazing offering further thermal performance improvements and sound proofing.

re:DSGN Ltd have provided a full package of detailed drawings and worked with outside specialists to provide all details required for Building Regulation Approval and construction on site.
